RELOADABLE MINES
Imported into North America by Ares Arms, the “reloadable mines,” manufactured by KRGI of Nice, France, form a perfect means of protecting high-security installations against intrusion! Activation can be as simple as by a tripwire, although naturally they can be fully integrated into a rigger-controlled security network.
Four models are currently available: 90 or 180 degree coverage, and using shotgun or grenade launcher ammunition. Further models are under development.
All models are available in a variety of colors and camouflage patterns to suit your specific needs.
Type Conceal Weight Availability Cost Street Index
Shotgun 90 7 1.5 8/7 days 1000 3
Shotgun 180 5 3 8/7 days 1750 3
Grenade 90 6 2 8/7 days 1200 4
Grenade 180 4 4 8/7 days 2000 4
Game Notes: these devices shoot shotgun rounds or mini-grenades into the indicated arc; 90-degree models have 5 barrels, 180-degree models have 10 barrels. If shot rounds are fired, treat the mine as having a Choke of 5, and subject any character within range to the appropriate damage for a 10S round.
If slugs or explosive mini-grenades were loaded, make a two-dice roll to see if the character is hit, using the Stray Shots rules on page 93 of SRII.
Note that the arc is more or less flat — someone above the line of fire will likely not get hit unless shot rounds are fired, whose choke naturally forms a cone.
In other words, vehicle smoke grenade launchers adapted for security work. Rather nasty if you run into one, though…
Mr. E
I know one Denver corp that uses the grenade launcher models, and has placed them within about 10 meters of a concrete wall. Someone trips the wire, grenades go flying, and if they miss the person they’ll hit the wall, frying him anyway.
