VR2 host generator (now matrix generator)

This tool generates a Shadowrun Matrix section using Virtual Realities rules. You can specify how many hosts to create (1–20), and the generator will:

  • Create random host types (Blue, Green, Orange, Red) and ratings per Virtual Realities.
  • Assign subsystem ratings for Access, Control, Index, Files, and Slave, with appropriate randomization.
  • Pick a security response type (Passive, Active, Trace, Scramble, Pursuit, etc).
  • Assign 1–3 types of ICE (Intrusion Countermeasures Electronics) to each host, chosen from classic Virtual Realities options (e.g. Probe, Tar Baby, Killer, Blaster, Scout, Trace, Scramble, Ripper, Acid, Binder, Renegade, Psyche, Sparky). ICE is displayed for each host in the results.
  • Randomly connect hosts to each other, showing which hosts are linked and the direction of each connection.
  • Display a network graphic: hosts are arranged in a circle, with directional arrows showing connections between them. Host color matches its type (Blue, Green, Orange, Red).
  • All logic is client-side JavaScript, so you can use it offline.
  • Useful for quick decker runs, random host design, or inspiration for Matrix encounters.
  • Based on the rules and tables from Shadowrun Second Edition and the Virtual Realities sourcebook.
  • Source code is readable in this page and can be copied/adapted for your own games.
